CANDID RANTS: WHY DO NIGERIAN STUDENTS FIND IT HARD TO SPELL???

It's a a capital shame and slowly becoming a normalcy in most of our campuses in Nigerian universities. i have a sincere feeling that typing in short message formats and the unchecked use of pidgin including our local dialect are the major factors driving this ugly trend. I strongly believe that this menace may have little or nothing to do with our government, as it is a thing associated with the person involved. the only remedy i perceive for this is the strict enforcement of writing skills and spell check in our University curriculum. I know a few people would jump at the conclusion that English is not our mother tongue, but don't you think anything worth doing is worth doing well? Not exempting the use of English language. Thank You...

As part of the state-wide commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, the "Ocmulgee National Monument" will be holding an event that will honor both of the Civil War battles that occurred within the National Park's grounds; Dunlap Hill and Walnut Creek.
Scientist believes that the caveman was very physically fit, had a strong immune system and was free from
the deadly diseases many deal with today.
They are very different in the way that permineralization
turns a bone, wood or teeth into a fossil from the inside out while resin traps and
    encapsulates a whole organism.
